I'm buying my first Digital SLR (canon EOS 400D)

i'm just confuse as to what lens to buy for myself. i will be taking outdoors, scenery and maybe room or group photos, etc.

this is a link to the type of lens. an image stabiliser is what i'm looking for. but not sure the one lens that will be suitable for me.
